School Staff


PATTI FAGALDE, 5th & 6th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Fagalde began teaching at Saint Luke in 2008 and has previously taught the 2nd and 3rd grades.  Mrs. Fagalde is passionate about continuously improving technology in the classroom and is involved in various Church Youth group activities.  Mrs. Fagalde is also a graduate of Saint Luke herself.

Mrs. Fagalde has a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Eastern Illinois University and a Master’s degree in Education from Aurora University.

The best part of teaching for Mrs. Fagalde is seeing a child’s face when they finally understand something they may have been struggling with.

MRS. MARY VOGEL, 3rd & 4th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Vogel began teaching 3rd and 4th grade at Saint Luke in 2011 and has taught in Lutheran Schools for over ten years.  She has been an active member of Saint Luke for over 20 years playing in the Adult hand bell choir, is a commissioned Stephen Minister, traveled on a mission trip, Parish Ministry, has sung in various choirs, trained to lead small groups, and teaches 6th grade Confirmation on Sunday’s.  Mrs. Vogel graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Lutheran Early Childhood Education from Concordia University, Chicago with a concentration in Psychology.  The best part of teaching for Mrs. Vogel is sharing the love of Jesus with each and every student, showing them how to respect one another, and giving them an appreciation for the world with which God has blessed us.

MS. ERICA HEGARTY, 1st & 2nd Grade Teacher

KAREN PETERS, Kindergarten Teacher

Mrs. Peters has taught at Saint Luke for over 15 years.  She teaches Kindergarten and prior taught 2nd grade for ten years.  Mrs. Peters is involved in the Saint Luke Sonshine Choir which is comprised of Kindergarten – 3rd grade.  She is also involved in teaching at the Saint Luke Vacation Bible School program over the summer, volunteering at P.A.D.S. and coordinating the fall and spring book fairs.

Mrs. Peters has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Concordia University-Chicago.

The best part of teaching for Mrs. Peters is the joy the children bring with them each day and sharing the love of Jesus with them.


KIRSTEN SCHNABEL, PreKindergarten Teacher

Mrs. Schnabel started teaching PreKindergarten at Saint Luke in 2009.  Prior to Saint Luke, Mrs. Schnabel’s teaching experience included instructing 2nd grade and PreKindergarten, both in Lutheran schools, for 6 years.  Mrs. Schnabel leads the Angel Choir at Saint Luke which is comprised of the PreSchool and PreKindergarten classes.  She is also a volunteer in the Church Nursery.

Mrs. Schnabel has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University-Chicago. The best part of teaching for Mrs. Schnabel is being able to share the love of Christ with children.

MRS. LAURA FISCHER, Preschool Teacher

Mrs. Fischer has over 15 years of teaching experience.  She has been a teacher, aide and substitute teacher in Preschool & Kindergarten as well as in the 1st through 8th grade levels.

Mrs. Fischer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University.  She also has endorsements in Language Arts, Music and Social Studies.  Mrs. Fischer has been involved over the years at Saint Luke as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School volunteer, Church Choir member and coordinator of activity bags for the Children’s Ministry.

The best part of being a teacher for Mrs. Fischer is witnessing the academic, social, and spiritual growth of the children in her classroom and know that she played a part in that growth.

Miss Allison Witowicz is our  Physical Education teacher at Saint Luke. This is her second year teaching. Miss Witowicz is finalizing her second bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science along with already completing the requirements for a Physical Education degree and Health minor from Concordia University. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, going to the movies, and running. She’s very excited to be teaching at Saint Luke and hopes to positively influence her students to enjoy Physical Education and fitness!
